WOW Badge Design Competition

Our whole school competition asked the children to design a WOW badge based on an invention.  The JTA's (Junior travel ambassadors) picked our 3 winners to send off to the national competition.

Well done to Raaid in 1 Shakespeare

Well done to Alyssa in 3 Dahl

Well done to Veeraj in 4 Farah

What is WOW?
Pupils record how they get to school each day on the interactive WOW Travel Tracker and those who walk (skate, scoot, cycle or Park & Stride!) at least once per week for a month are rewarded with a themed badge. It's that easy!
Each year, the 11 WOW badges follow a new WOW theme, all of which are designed by pupils in our annual badge design competition. Each badge is made in the UK from recycled yoghurt-pot material.

Gymnastics competition at Caterham High School . JB Success !

In the last week of term I took a team of 12 girls and 12 boys from Year 4 , 5 & 6 to a Redbridge gymnastics competition . Every child had to learn a floor routine , body management routine and vault . The routines had to be learnt and performed individually in front of a judge and each child completed all 3 phases of the competition which was a huge achievement for each team member. It was a very daunting competition specially for our first timers but they all performed well under a huge amount of pressure . There were 2 competitions within the day , the plate competition & the cup competiton .

In the morning competition ( plate )  both teams came 2nd and 3rd out of 12 schools .
In the afternoon competition ( cup ) our Y5/6 team came 3rd out of 14 schools and the Year 3.4 team narrowly missed out on the top 3 positions.

Within all teams there were some fantastic individual  scores across all 3 phases of the competition and the team work and encouragement within teams was fantastic . A huge thank you to Kalila , Tommi Jo & Natalie who were helping all of our children through out the day as well as competing themselves .

A huge well done to all of the children who represented our school impeccably and made both myself & Mrs Khan feel very proud .

A fantastic start to the sporting year for JB !
